  • Measuring cups
  • Glasses for serving

Ingredients

  • Ingredients
  • For the Ginger Syrup
  • 1 cup fresh ginger peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar or a sugar substitute
  • For the Lemonade
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice about 4-6 lemons
  • 3 cups cold water
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish, optional
  • Lemon slices for garnish, optional

Instructions

  • Method
  • Step 1: Prepare the Ginger Syrup
  • In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of sliced ginger and 1 cup of water.
  • Bring it to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to a simmer for about 5-7 minutes.
  • Add 1 cup of sugar (or sugar substitute), stirring until dissolved. Simmer for an additional 10 minutes until slightly thickened.
  • Remove from heat and let it cool. Strain the syrup into a jar and discard the ginger slices. This ginger syrup can be stored in the fridge for up to two weeks.
  • Step 2: Make the Lemonade
  • In a pitcher, mix 1 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice with 3 cups of cold water.
  • Add ½ cup of the ginger syrup (adjust to taste depending on how sweet or spicy you want it).
  • Stir well to combine. Taste and adjust the sweetness or tartness by adding more syrup or lemon juice.
  • Step 3: Serve
  • Fill glasses with ice cubes.
  • Pour the ginger lemonade over the ice.
  • Garnish with fresh mint leaves and lemon slices if desired.
  • Variations
  • Spicy Ginger Lemonade: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper for an extra kick!
  • Herbal Twist: Infuse with basil or rosemary for a unique flavor.
  • Fruity Mix: Blend in fresh berries like raspberries or strawberries for a colorful twist.
  • Mocktail Version: Simply skip the alcohol for a refreshing non-alcoholic drink.
