Large pitcher, cutting board, knife, measuring cup, wooden spoon
- 1 bottle of red wine 750ml – choose a fruity variety like Merlot or Pinot Noir
- 1 cup of mixed berries strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries
- 1 orange sliced
- 1 lemon sliced
- 1 lime sliced
- 1/4 cup of brandy optional for extra kick
- 2 tablespoons of sugar or to taste; can be substituted with honey or agave syrup
- 1 cup of soda water or lemon-lime soda for a fizzy touch
- Mint leaves for garnish
Prepare the Fruit: Start by washing all your berries thoroughly. Slice the strawberries and other larger berries into bite-sized pieces. Slice the orange, lemon, and lime into thin rounds.
Mix the Wine and Fruit: In a large pitcher, combine the red wine and brandy (if using). Add in the sliced fruits and mixed berries.
Sweeten It Up: Stir in the sugar. You can adjust the sweetness to your liking. If you prefer a healthier alternative, honey or agave syrup works beautifully.
Let It Chill: Cover the pitcher and let it sit in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours. This step is crucial as it allows the flavors to meld beautifully.
Add Bubbles: Just before serving, pour in the soda water or lemon-lime soda for a refreshing fizz. Gently stir to combine.
Serve: Fill your glasses with ice, pour the Berry Sangria over, and garnish with fresh mint leaves.
